PART 1 – Admissions to the Mainstream Classes

Application and Decision Dates for admission to 2021/2022 school year

The following are the dates applicable for admission to Junior Infants

The school will commence accepting applications for admission on 01/10/2020
The school shall cease accepting applications for admission on 30/10/2020
The date by which applicants will be notified of the decision on their application is    20/11/2020
The period within which applicants must confirm acceptance of an offer of admission isWithin 7 days of offer of place

Note: the school will consider and issue decisions on late applications in accordance with the school’s admission policy.

Special Class Application and Decision Dates for admission to  St. Mary’s NS, Waterpark Carrigaline, Co. Cork for the school year 2021/2022

The following are the dates applicable for admission to the school’s Special Class which caters for children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder

The school will commence accepting applications for admission to the special class on 22/02/2021
The school shall cease accepting applications for admission to the special class on12/03/2021
The date by which applicants will be notified of the decision on their application for admission to the special class is02/04/2021
The period within which applicants must confirm acceptance of an offer of admission isWithin 7 days of offer of place

*Failure to accept an offer within the prescribed period above may result in the offer being withdrawn

February Mid-Term: School Closed Monday 15th February- Friday 19th Inclusive

March:  St. Patrick’s Day – Bank Holiday Wednesday 17th March

Easter Holidays: School closes Friday 26th March at 12 noon.

                              School re-opens Monday 12th April.

May Mid-Term:  Monday 3rd May – Friday 7th May inclusive

June Bank Holiday:  Monday 7th June.

PA Christmas Cards Thank you to the PA for organising the Christmas Cards fundraiser. We raised €850  
 

Christmas Fayre Congratulations to all involved in the organisation and running of the recent Carrigaline Christmas Fayre. Thank you to all who contributed before and during the weekend to make it such a successful event. Special thanks are due to the organising committee and to the carol singers and Mrs. Shilling for adding a very festive atmosphere to the event. Well done all!    


Gymnastics
Lessons for 1st, 3rd & 5th classes will begin on Thursday 9th January for 10 weeks. Reminder €10 per pupil if you have not already paid.
 
 
Dress up day
We raised €325 for the Irish guide dogs for the Blind by dressing up at Halloween. We all had great fun!

Parent Representative elections to the new Board of Management will take place on Wednesday 23rd October at 7.30pm.

This will be followed immediately by a meeting to get started on planning the Christmas Fayre. Please support our school by attending on the night and get involved in planning the Fayre.

Staff Training Days

Please note that school will close early on Friday 8th November at 12.30pm to facilitate staff training in Manual Handling.

Please note that school will be closed for pupils on Tuesday 19th November to facilitate teacher training in the Primary Language Curriculum.

Congratulations to Mrs. Chambers who will retire from teaching at the midterm break. Mrs. Chambers has taught in St. Mary’s NS since 2002 and will be best remembered for the magnificent artwork produced by the children, for the beautiful handwriting taught and for inspiring great creativity in so many. Míle buíochas dhuit and best wishes from us all for a long and happy retirement!

Dress Up Day

On Friday 25th October all are invited to Dress Up coming to school! We are asking for a €2 donation per person. All proceeds will be donated to the Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind.

Mid-Term Break

School will close for mid-term break on Friday 25th October at 2.30pm and re-open on Monday 4th November.

       Parent/Teacher Meetings

Meetings will take place on Friday 22nd November beginning at 2.30pm. Please collect pupils at 2.15pm on this date.

Appointments may be made by telephoning the office between 9am and 1 pm, from Monday 4th to Friday 8th November.

 The annual Christmas Fayre will take place on 30th November & 1st December in the Carrigaline GAA Hall.  This is our Parent Association’s main fund raising event of the year. It has always been a tremendous success and has raised much needed funds for our school. Parent volunteers are essential to the success of the fayre.  As always, any help you could offer would be gratefully accepted. We look forward to an enjoyable and profitable weekend.

The first meeting will take place in the school on Wednesday 23rd of October at 8pm.

May 2019 Newsletter

Book Day Friday 10th May from 9.30am to 1.30pm. Pupils have been browsing the books and will have the title of their preferred book and cost for your information this evening. Each pupil will receive a discount voucher of €1.50 which will be taken off the purchase price of one book. All pupils will have a chance to visit the Book Fair tomorrow to buy a book with their class teacher or parents are welcome to bring pupils to the Fair throughout the day. Please note there is no obligation to buy books. The school will receive books to the value of up to 60% of sales made on the day. Remember to dress up as a character from a book!!

Reminder School Closed on Friday 31st May and for Bank Holiday Monday 3rd June.  The Cake Sale will now take place on Friday 24th May. All baking may be dropped in to the kitchen on arrival at school. Help needed on the day, please contact the office. Money raised will go towards replacing the PE gym mats and purchasing an Orienteering Kit for the school.

School Photos for Junior Infants and 6th Class will be taken on Monday 27th May. Pupils to wear full school uniform.  Any family (in other classes) that would like a sibling photo taken on the day please contact Nadine.

School Uniform

As is tradition in St. Mary’s NS, pupils may wear their own clothes from Tuesday 4th   June until the summer holidays. We ask that pupils dress appropriately for activities and wear suitable footwear for walking and running.

CIT Sports

CIT Sports will take place on Thursday 6th June in CIT Bishopstown. Participating pupils may leave school early on the day. School will close for all at 12 noon to allow staff and pupils to attend. This is always a lovely family event and we encourage all to come along.

 

School Reports will be sent home with children on Monday 17th June.

6th Class Assembly will take place on Tuesday 25th June at  12pm  in St. Mary’s Church, Carrigaline. 6th Class Parents and family welcome, refreshments afterwards  in St. Mary’s  Parish Hall. Weather permitting, pupils from 2nd to 5th will also attend this service.
